Did we just become best friends?

Do you like to make friends or even having friends? Then this blog is for you!

I saw the above quote and it inspired this blog post because I have been lucky enough to call my co-workers some of my best friends! As the newness of the school year wears off, it is important to have a support system of people who can give you different perspectives, fresh ideas, an ear to listen, and TOUGH. LOVE, if/when needed!
There are PROBABLY new teachers in your building, whether they are fresh out of college or someone coming from another school, who might have lost their former support system.
This is where you come in! Reach out to these people. Buy them a coffee. Invite them to do something outside of the school walls. Write them a nice note. We all know how important it is to create and maintain relationships in our own classroom- and this needs to extend throughout the staff members too! We are ALL on the same team with the same end goal: our students’ success.
Take the opportunity to get someone you might not have normally befriend because you have the connection of the school that you are at. You might be lucky enough to find a new group of friends!

When we first got our jobs, Mara and I were lucky enough to have all of our new teacher meetings together. We had that bond of being newbies together and being our shoulders to lean on. We had the same passions and beliefs that it seemed like we had been friends forever. Mara even introduced me to new ideas such as gonoodle and teacherspayteachers, which I still wouldn’t know about had we not talked and bonded. Which is just one reason why it is soooooo important to talk to those new peeps and pick their brains! Having that support from her and others was so imperative to my first year. Now we are best friends and there is no looking back! We are now practically professional bloggers to top it all off! We have memories to last a lifetime and we have only known each other for five years.

We have experienced sooo much LIFE together! That’s the beauty of a job that brings people and their passions together! So GO OUT THERE and make some new friends!!!
